Lenco arm board

20131026-184830.jpgThis is a great new arm board made by Carl to fit my Lenco plinth. I’m planning to add a second plater so needed to raise the tonearm and therefore a new board was required. Carl can make this arm board to fit any requirements. Just get in touch with Carl if you need a special arm board for your plinth.

  1. Ale, with such armboard you will only change the spectrum of vibrations that affect the arm. It is a common flaw found in all conventional turntables, including the very expensive ones….
It’s just shifting the problem here and there but never solving it! Try to do something really different, a real step forward: suspend the arm with coupling at subsonic frequency (below 5 Hz) ONLY. I send you some pictures and info by e-mail if you want.
Then you could do the same with the bearing-subplatter-platter and with the motor…..and you will solve several issues in one go, including the arm-platter subsonic resonance and the antiskating.
The best arm would be a Rega. The 250 would be more than enough. The only other important thing is you need to make a precise work when it comes to setting-up properly and testing. A good test record like the CBS or the HFNRR (i.e. that follow the RIAA specs) and an oscilloscope are what you need. Actually, having one of these records you will find that most turntables are not conform to RIAA specs while people talk about +/- 0.1 dB deviation from RIAA curve in their phono pre-amp!
    Cheers

    1. Thanks for the feedback. I’m looking to get a test record.
So far I’ve upgraded the armboard and added stacked platters. Many Lenco owners highly recommend this approach. I found it very responsive improving treble without loosing bass. I’m using a similar record in CD version to do some comparisons.
I managed to resolve my skating issue so only thing left so far is to get a better cartridge.
      Cheers,
      Ale
