Merry Christmas

It’s been long overdue, I know. At least we are here. Another Christmas to celebrate in a good way. A couple of days late this post, but hey at least I’m writing this entry 🙂

Sun is shining

I’ve been extremely busy as probably most of you, but in my case the limited free time has been focused to some other passion of mine related to music: synthesizers. I’ve been designing different sort of modules and circuits. What an experience. I’m learning a lot indeed. That’s why I’m sort of addicted to it.

Not much change on the DIY audio side of things. You may read this with disappointment, I rather not. I have actually focused on optimising my audio system and enjoying music. Is that not what is all about?

I found out that in my case, I could get rid of the preamps and drive my 300B system directly either from the DAC or the turntable. Wow, no need of a preamp. Was that me saying that? This is possible as am listening to low volumes most of times and the sounds levels are ok with my OB speakers. With the driver I have and the 300B, I’m ok. No more is needed. I wish I could do the same with a 45 output stage!

I decided to remove the low-gain preamp. I spent all my energies during Boxing Day to fit a new DL103R cartridge. My previous DL103 was damaged and needed replacement. I also have new wooden body but didn’t adventure to fit the DL103R in the new body. Hopefully soon?

I did the due maintenance on my modified Lenco turntable and now sounds better than ever.

I have to say that the 47 driving the 300B is a killer combination here. I could change it for a 801a sure, and that would eventually happen. But I love this setup!

These OB speakers are amazing. I’m thrilled with the dynamics, space, detail and timbre of these speakers.

I may look into the 45 PP amplifier instead of the 813/211 ones. Both are big different amplifiers and have completely different requirements.

Let’s see where destiny is pushing me to.

Happy holidays!

Not sure if I missed a post, but glad you like your Lii Audio drivers(Crystal10 & W15 ?)
I’m building a baffle for Fast10/Augie15 combo, hopefully they sound almost as good as your setup.
