I&#8217;ve been busy with work and family. On my spare time, spent mostly listening to music, developing some synthesiser modules and playing music as well!<\/p>\n<p>I missed ETF this year, sad to say. Work commitments made it impossible to \u00a0travel to France. Hope that&#8217;s not the case next year as am keen to get back. I&#8217;ve seen some pictures and feedback and seems it was a blast despite the COVID restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>On my exchange with Rod Coleman regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bartola.co.uk\/valves\/2021\/08\/30\/dhts-and-cathode-bias-degeneration\/\">this<\/a> post, I asked him to send me a pair of his latest DHT filament regulator (version 9) to test them on my 801a preamp with a cathode bias resistor (degenerated or un-bypassed):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.bartola.co.uk\/valves\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/RC-V9.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"10348\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.bartola.co.uk\/valves\/2021\/11\/20\/801a-preamp-revisited-part-i\/rc-v9\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.bartola.co.uk\/valves\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/RC-V9.jpg?fit=%2C&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"[]\" data-image-title=\"RC-V9\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.bartola.co.uk\/valves\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/RC-V9.jpg?fit=1024%2C1024&amp;ssl=1\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10348\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.bartola.co.uk\/valves\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/RC-V9.jpg?w=840&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><!--more-->These regulators are design with the objective in mind of having a larger impedance path in the cathode. The negative terminal in this version always need to connect to the cathode resistor.<\/p>\n<p>I will modify the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bartola.co.uk\/valves\/2018\/08\/13\/er801a-driver-stage\/\">VT-25a\/801a<\/a> preamp I built back in 2016 to use these regs. I will need to remove the filament bias element and replace with the cathode resistors.
