From VU to LULU, Lou Reed @ Royal Festival Hall

Had the chance tonight of going to a Lou Reed gig here in London. It’s probably the fourth or fifth time I managed to see him performing live, a real privilege. This man continues to reinvent himself, the greatest challenge every artist has…

Why not say that also enjoyed the classics like:

Heroin, waiting for my man, white light, and street hassle!

Without attempting to sound like a critic, a great pleasure to see him (again).

  1. Great hall, was there last summer when my daughter graduated from Camberwell College of Arts. Former student Jeff Beck was there holding a long speech and showing some video clips about his career. Unfortunately he didn´t play anything live…..

      1. It’s been more than 7 years and am still missing Lou. I was fortunate to see him play a few times. However, more fortunate to discover his music ages ago. When I was at school I firstly heard to Velvet Underground and I was gobsmacked. I always questioned his rivalry with John Cale, but then I understood the marriage/couple differences. I loved them both, and highly. When I firstly visited NYC on my early 20s, I understood a lot of things from Lou. Even down to when he played at Buenos Aires in the 2000s “Modern dance” made way too much sense.

Lou, you simple music made my mind blow. You make things complex to be as simple as they take. The superficial to be deep and unique. I will miss you a lot. Loved buying your vinyl records and hearing to your unique style.

Sorry for the rant, I’m on holidays and by sheer coincidence someone pointed me back to this post. I was fortunate Lou to meet you in my own way as a big fan, part of the audience. thanks for being a big part of my inspiration.

We will miss you deeply, however your music will keep us walking on the wild side
